A Letter From the President.

Hello!

I’m Logen Emery, the current Xi Theta chapter President for Chi Omega at South Dakota State University. Our chapter is continuing to grow and thrive as we recently welcomed 24 new members this fall. We are preparing to host our annual apple polishing event where we recognize sisters scholastic achievements. Our chapter has 10 current members with 4.0 GPAs and 28 that made the deans list this semester. As whole our chapter GPA is a 3.18 which is above our campus undergraduate average.

We as Chi Omegas strive for academic excellence as well as campus involvement and community service. Many of our members are active leaders across campus. Xi Theta sisters are involved in clubs such as the HOBO day committee, American Sign Language club, Student Nurses Association, The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band, French Club, The Honors College, and many more. One of our sisters even helped charter Circle K international, a community service organization, here on campus and many of our members are involved in the Brookings peer mentoring program.

Since 2002, Chi Omega has been partnered with our philanthropy, Make a Wish. We work to grant wishes for local kids who are fighting terminal illnesses. To date, our chapter has raised over $75,000 and given over 3,500 hours of volunteer work to Make-a-Wish and the Brookings community. We are so excited to grant another wish for a child in our community soon!  Keep an eye out for our upcoming philanthropy events so you too can help be apart of granting a wish!

Looking forward, we are excited to host our National Leadership Consultant for a week this spring. She will bring knowledge about our national organization and help us to continue improving chapter and the Chi Omega experience. Our leadership board will also be attending Firesides, Chi Omegas regional leadership conference where they will be able to learn more about their role in serving our chapter. Some sisters will participate online while the personnel chair, and I travel to Denver, Colorado to attend our sessions in person. We are so excited to meet many new sisters from throughout our region and to better ourselves as leaders!

Loyally,

Logen Emery, President
