Greek life at South Dakota State is fun! Every year, more than 28,000 women join Chi Omega across the country. As the largest women's fraternity in the world, Chi Omega offers sisterhood and lifelong friendships. Membership in Chi Omega is for a lifetime. Our extensive network of sisters and the spirit of Chi Omega are a home wherever you may be in college and after!

Chi Omega is proud to be part of the Greek Life community at SDSU. As the first founded women's fraternity on campus, the Xi Theta chapter of Chi Omega has been building a rich history since 1967. Today, there are more than 400 Chi Omega alumnae from our chapter! Currently, we are the largest chapter on campus and hope to keep growing!

If you are interested in joining Greek Life at SDSU, please contact our Recruitment Chair, Ashton Pauling, at Ashton.Pauling@jacks.sdstate.edu for more information.

recruitment questions

What does recruitment consist of?

Recruitment is three days long, with Bid Day landing on the fourth and final day.

Night 1: Housing and Financial night will last 35 minutes long each round. It will be focused on the housing and the financial commitment for each chapter.

Night 2: Philanthropy Night will last 35 minutes each round. You will receive basic information from every chapter with the focus being on each of our national charities. Chi Omega proudly supports The Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Night 3: Recruitment concludes with 40-minute rounds with more serious and in-depth conversations. Preference Night is the most serious night as it will be yours and each chapter's final night together before finding your home the following day. We hope that each of you will find your new home in a chapter on the last and final day, Bid Day.

Bid Day: The most exciting day of recruitment! We look forward to celebrating it with you!

Where do I apply?

Applications can be found online at https://sdstate.mycampusdirector2.com/landing/. The application fee is only $15 and it includes a t-shirt. We encourage everyone to apply! Just because you apply for formal recruitment or attend recruitment doesn't mean you have to join.

What do I wear?

There are three days of recruitment and then Bid Day.

Night 1: Wear jeans, dress pants, or a skirt with a nice shirt.

Night 2: The attire is a little dressier than the previous night, but still comfortable. Outfit ideas include a sundress, romper, skirt or pants and a blouse.

Night 3: Tonight is the dressiest night of the week. We recommend wearing formal clothes, such as a dress. However, you are not required to wear anything specific.

Bid Day: You are encouraged to wear jeans or shorts with a tank top under some sort of shirt or jacket because you will receive a shirt to change into after the celebration!

Is greek life right for me?

Greek life is right for anyone. There are four different women's sororities on campus, which allows for a perfect fit for anyone and everyone. We encourage you to attend recruitment to not only see what Greek life is all about but to meet other people. If you join, you will create lifelong friendships and become part of something that is bigger than yourself.
